Welcome to the curious mind of Kilah Storm

Truth, Love and Rebellion…

The very first story Kilah ever wrote was about a little dog who escaped a pound. She was four years old and though the story has been lost, a theme lingered.

Twenty years later, Kilah found herself working at a high kill animal shelter in Arkansas. Not many little dogs escaped from that place. However, as the social media manager and photographer for the animal shelter, Kilah began to see a harsh beauty that lingered in such a sad place.

Kilah’s stories are always seeking a way to break from the cages that confine our perspective. Animals play a big role in many of her tales as do the themes of human nature, identity and exploring our wilderness within. Kilah’s characters tend to be bold and innocently optimistic like puppies. Her favorite characters to write are rebels and poets. But always, Kilah seeks to tell the stories of those escaping not into a fantasy world but into a haunting and beautiful reality.
